Voice of Summer

A sensory extension of abstract geometry, Voice of Summer translates the rhythmic compositions of Taiwanese painter Hu Ku-Jung into a tactile, transformative medium. Commissioned by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, the project explores the transition of Hu’s work ‘8 Over 8’ from a static visual experience to a physical, auditory interaction. By utilizing ice as a primary material, the work captures the fleeting sounds of a melting landscape: the subtle sizzle of thermal change and the percussive clink of frozen forms. The ice maker invites the individual to rearrange the artist’s geometric language, creating unique, temporal sequences that dissolve over time. It is a study in the ephemeral nature of both sound and art.
